Project CARS Benchmarked, Tested

I'm sorry but my coding skills aren't anywhere near good enough to trust but verify - so either way I'm going to be listening and choosing to believe someone - whether it be for or against SMS. There are so many doomsayers out there these days who believe everything is a conspiracy against them that I'll just have to make a calculated judgement for myself after LISTENING to enough sides and perspectives.

Yep and, I've not heard enough evidence against anyone at this point. I'm sure once that evidence comes to light TechSpot will be all over it, and we will see a new article.

This is shameful coming from Slightly Mad Studios and Nvidia. Even I, a regular user, normal guy, would have known that developing a game using proprietary PhysX would cripple the game on competing GPU's. It's obvious. The fault lies entirely with SMS. SMS had the gall to deflect the blame off of themselves to AMD when they knowingly made a game that was by default, crippled on a subset of hardware.

Nvidia fanboys are not blameless either. Even after it was fully explained why the game runs poorly on AMD cards, they still used stereotypical insults against AMD and still place the blame on AMD. Then they act ignorant of anything told to them and pledge their support of Nvidia products EVEN MORE. Well DUH that's what they WANT YOU to do. Stupid sheep.

Then again, I don't even know why I'm shocked or surprised that this happened. A) it's an indie studio, you can't expect much ethical behavior from them and B) it's Nvidia. Downfall of gaming is already happening but people are too daft to see it.

I agree with this statement. They even have Nvidia come onto Maximum PC's No BS segment. Their response was that they don't force any developers into contracts forbidding AMD optimization but they don't allow AMD to view Nvidia code. This includes PhysX, hair, ect. In otherwords, when a game signs onto Gameworks, they cannot allow AMD to see Nvidia's code, and hence they cannot optimize. Nvidia is hiding behind Devs as a shield when in reality the only way they are going to be able to optimize is to view that Nvidia code. This is aside from the fact that almost everything AMD does is open source and runs just as well on Nvidia hardware thanks to that.

I think it's funny that Nvidia seems to think of itself as a market leader when 90% of the time they are late to adopt new standards and everything they make only works for their customers. Nvidia has excellent marketing but they have despicable business practices which often get a pass because of their statues as a PC gaming company. They are effectively the Apple of the Desktop world.

It's the job of News outlets to bring to evidence to light, not wait for it. At this rate nothing will happen and Gameworks will continue to gimp games. It's a fact that AMD cards work slower on Nvidia Gameworks. Now we just need to know why.

I suppose you believe FOX news as well? Even info you get from "the news" requires people to do a little thinking for themselves. You've gotta keep in mind that these are just people who work for these news outlets and many of them can get away with placing their biases and beliefs there as well depending on the outlet itself - and they often differ from outlet to outlet. You've got to think about the news you're ingesting and decide whether to believe it or not based on the sources, types of evidence, likelihood, and the little you may know about a given topic being reported on.

But yes... let the evidence gathering begin.

People are so quick to start throwing around abuse, like a pack of wild animals out of there cage, they dont stop to think who is to blame, they just bite the closest person to them. mindlessly. its obviously the fault of AMD, ignorantly not readying there drivers for project cars, because its crowd funded I guess they refused to offer support. because its not the norm, well what ever they chose to do or not do in this case, is amd that is to blame. so I suggest amd users go complain and bite the legs of the right people. and offer to appologise.

This is why I'm done with AMD. I have an R9 290 and even with the beta drivers that were supposed to fix everything, I still can't play Le Mans or Monaco without incredibly stuttering. This game looks beautiful, but not THAT beautiful. Even though I hate Nvidia and the way they've been overpricing their products, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and join the green team if AMD is going to neglect their customers like this. My 290 gets 19-22 fps in places where my brother's GTX 770 gets 50fps. This is a complete joke.

The latest Beta drivers didn't change anything for us which is why we haven't re-tested.
