What would be better, a 500 watt with dual 12 volt with 20 amps on both or a 550 watt with 25 amps on the 12? They are both good PSU that have been recomended to me.

I am going to assume you are talking about “Dual Fans…” which will help in the cooling aspect but you might be talking about “Dual 12V output…’ which adds more stability to the system. 20-25A is dealing with the max load.

One has 2 12 volt rails with 20amps on the first and 20 amps on the second and has 1 fan in the PSU . The other has one 12 volt rail with 25 amps and 2 fans.

I will replace the 420watt that came with my case. It is having trouble powering my system during gaming. This is my system.

Athlon 64 3000+
2x 512MB DDR400
Nforce3 250 mobo
Geforce 6600GT agp
2 case fans (Blue LED)
1 Hard Drive
1 DVD Burner
2 Neon Tubes

Ya, thats what I have been told for a while now. What is better a Power Supply with Dual 12 Volt Rails with 20amps on both rails or a power supply with one 12 volt with 25 amps on it.

Depends on who is making them. If they are both from a high quality company, then I'd go for the 20amps on dual rails.
