    hi

    i have a weird problem.
Yesterday i put extra 256mb sd ram in my pc (now i have 512), suddenly my pc keeps rebooting ??
    Why ?

It does not like the memory.

It may be the right speed, but there's probably some sort of incompatiblity with it. Two possibilities include:

1.) Memory is incompatible with your existing memory
2.) Memory is incompatible with your system

Or the memory itself could be defective, but about 99% of the time, when you buy it new, it is not defective.

Check the motherboard manufacturer's website, they will usually give you an exact list of verified RAM. Anything not on that list may be flakey or worse. I know SOYO and ASUS do this... not sure of the others though, never looked.

You haven't told us what kind of a computer you're using, and which operating system it uses. Does it reboot before the operating system is even loaded? Does the operating system crash?

Some cheap mainboards don't accept 256 MB modules, if you had 2 x 128 before and now added a 256 MB stick, it just might not be supported.

    Its an asus board.

i checked the manufacturer's webside and the motherboard can
    go up to 512mb.
At the moment xp shows his startscreen, the system crashes.

Do i have to change something in de bios, f.e. fronside bus ??
