I have a 200 gb hard drive which is partitioned into two right now, and am thinking about changing from windows xp to windows 2000. I was wondering if doing so will change/alter/delete files that i have in the second partition.

thanks in advance

Welcome to TechSpot

As long as you don't touch that partition during re-install, your data will be fine.
Why dont you resize the XP partition down to maybe 10-20GB, then use the freed-up space to insert a new partition and install W2K in there? W2k only needs about 1GB, but make it 10GB for good measure.
