I'm getting an Athlon 3200+ XP, but everywhere I try to find a shim for it, it says that the shim is not for use with the Barton series XP's.

Are there 3200+ XP's that don't have a Barton core and I'm just missing them?

Are there special shims for the Barton series?

Or are there just no available shims for this particular CPU?

The closest I've found is a shim that says "DO NOT USE COPPER SHIM WITH THE ORB SERIES COOLER. EXCEPT FOR DRAGON ORB SERIES COOLERS.", but it looks the exact same as what they told me not to use on the Barton.

I'd hate to bring up this debate again, but do I even need a shim? I'd hate to crack my core and I'd love to get my HSF squared w/ the processor so I would like a shim if there is one out there.

If there is one out there, can someone please point me in the right direction?

I don't use shim for my 2500+. it's great. Don't worry about cracking the core. If the HSF and socket aren't damaged, it's ok.

OK, I'll go w/ it as is! Thanks.
