Hey everyone. I found this power supply quite appealing.

I'm not that good at telling good products from bad, so can someone tell me if this is a low-quality generic power supply, or is it considered high quality or OK quality? Because the price is kinda in-between (even without the rebate). The specs are pretty good, with the dual 18A rails and all...

The product does have a brand, and the brand does have a website, if that means anything.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Coolmax(not to be confused with Coolermaster) is on several lists of bad PSUs. They are not the absolute worst PSU out there but there are better options.Antec,Enermax,FSP,PC Power & Cooling are the prefered companys for powersupplies.
I recomend these as a substitute to the coolmax you listed:

Newegg has far better options than tigerdirect when it comes to powersupplies but unfortunately being in Canada limits you to tigerdirect and other websites that ship there(being in the US I'm not fimiliar with most of them).

dmill89,
those are some awesome supplies, but their way above my budget. I like Antec supplies, but there are many lesser supplies like Grafficks Coolmax that may work fine in a given system... for a lot less money

Thanks for your help.

I did some google searches and a few forums (including techspot) had threads listing the bad PSU brands. Coolmax was one of them.

There are in fact a few more good retailers here in Canada that I do some shopping at. Instead of emptying my wallet on Enermax, I wanted to go with Antec.

I have now completely changed my mind and I plan to get the Antec SmartPower 2.0 500-Watt. I googled reviews for it and I am loving the fact that it has sleeved cables and a partially modular cabling system. Best of all, I can get it for around $80.

No worries with Antec, right?

Thanks!

Personally for cheeper PSUs I would go with FSP. They are almost always the best for the money. For extremly highend units (or applications like servers that run 24/7) I go would with PC Power & Cooling. For most mid leval Units Antec and enermax are good choies. Coolermaster is also decent but I usually choose ont of the above brands first.

I'm not sure where Grafficks will be able to find these in Canada but I would recomend these as a budget friendly solution(prices are in US dollars):
