quick questions about DDR2

    i built a computer couple of weeks with intel board and a pentium D chip.. I read someehere that with intel boards u need to install 2 matching DDR2 chips for it to work.. well i had only 1 1gig DDR2 and i installed it and it worked fine but for some reason computer wont post.. i get 3 beeps code at the boot, which is RAM i think.. i dont have another DDR2 chip but do u think it will solve my problem if i add another one? plus why would it work for 2 weeks with only in and not after 2 weeks? weird.. is it possible that it might be the PCI-Express Video Card?
