i basically just wanted to know which particular raid is better raid 0, raid 1 or raid 5.

when setting up a raid is better to have smaller drives rather then larger drives and is there a limit to the size you can use.

Define "better". They all have their pros and cons which are explained in pretty much every single article about RAID that you can google.

Define "better". Yes, the RAID controller and/or software may have limits on the sizes of the individual drives and also the resulting arrays. Consult the documentation of the specific controller.

okay well i suppose i meant which purpose are they better suited too such as raid 0 is mainly used for gaming but raid 5 offers similar speed i think but you have fault protection so basically is it worth spending more or getting more drives so a raid 5 can be set up or a drives generally reliable enought that raid 0 will do .

is the software option actually worth while or does it reduce the performance advantage from raid alot.
