Ram chip compatability

I have a 2gb 1Rx8 pc3-10600 1333mhz chip--can I put it in laptop with a 4gb DDR3 pc3-10600 1333mhz cl9 SODIMM?--the laptop is capapble of doing 6 and 8 max...didn't know if they both had to be DDR3 or not

I've come unstuck with adding ram on a couple of occasions but from my experience it either works or it doesn't. You can always remove the new stick if the laptop doesn't like it. It's worth researching ram very carefully to avoid the inconvenience of having to return it.

If the spec on your stick matches spec on what you would buy from Crucial or Kingston as a compatible, then I would say to give it a shot.
