Hi guys quick one here,

assuming your motherboard takes (for example) PC 2700 and PC3200 RAM do you have to buy the one that you have already, what i mean is if you already have one stick of 512MB PC2700 can you add a 512MB PC3200 or does it have to be another PC2700??

Is it also the same for the speed, i.e. if you MOBO supports, 266,333,400 mhz can you buy either regardless of what your other stick is or do both sticks have to be the same mhz!?

Just wondering!

Thanks!

DDR RAM is backwards compatible by standard. So the faster stick will just run´at the speed of the slower one.

You have better chances at avoiding trouble if you use the same speed and same brand memory. That is especially true when you want to tweak your system to the max.
