hi

i want to upgrade ram on my desktop computer

i am not sure what is ddr1, ddr2 etc

on my comp bios it lists ram installed (on 3 slots) as follows:

128mb DDR26
256mb DDR26
512mb DDR26

i am buying ram online & there r different versions for that. it says that some rams are designed for some specific computers, so i dont know if these would work on my desktop.
i am considering these...

so, basically i want to take 128mb eam out and put new 1gb one instead.

thanks!

We need to know the motherboard or the brand and model of the computer to see if this is possible.

If you know or find out, you can go to www.crucial.com and click on their memory advisor and follow the steps and it will tell you what is compatable. You can use this information to buy from someone else if you choose.

Actually I think Crucial has a program that will run on your computer and tell you what you need, even if you don't know the motherboard. I've never used it before, its link is here: http://crucial.com/systemscanner/index.aspx

I agree to what SNGX1275 says and I would like to mention that if you want to have a little more performance in addition and of course if your mobo supports this then you should try to buy and run two equal memory moduls in dual channel mode. I would rather have two 512mib running in dual channel mode then have a mix out of 3 diffrent moduls even if they all together have more than 1 gib.

cheers, mscrx
