Ram wont work please help

Hello,

i just bought some a new 1gb compaq sdram pc100 for my very old pc that i have aqcuired but my motherboard wont recognise it when i insert it.

motherboard is:
Board: MicroStar Inc. MS-6340 1.0
Bus Clock: 66 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 62710 07/15/97

tis very annoying as i desperately need a bit more ram in this old thing..!! can some1 give me any suggestions as to what i can do.

i have just discovered my ram is 100mhz but my pc is 66 mhz is there anything i can do to make it work or should i search for more ram

The problem may be that you are trying to install a 1GB stick into a slot which will only handle a maximum of 512Mb.
All of the online memory configurators show that you need to use 2 512Mb sticks in order to provide your system with 1GB of RAM.
