Random Freezing and Occasional BSOD

Hello all,

I've been having problems with my computer freezing up or occasionally getting a BSOD and it's been getting more frequent. I'm really not sure where to start so I thought I would come here for some guidance and assistance. It's happening at different times, sometimes when gaming, sometimes watching Netflix, sometimes just web browsing. I was thinking it might be a hardware or heating issue, but my temps seem to be okay on my video card and CPU. I'm happy to provide any information that is needed, but to get it started:

Windows 8.1 x64
i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
12 GB RAM
Asus DirectCUII 290
750w PSU

I looked into the logs on my BSOD and it looks like the crash was probably caused by atikmdag.sys
Apparently this is related to AMD cards - any suggestions what to do from here?

Yes, go to the AMD/ATI driver website and download and install the latest driver for your PC:

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the stable release and the most recent beta version with no luck. I also tried only installing the display driver and nothing else and still getting weird screen freezes. The sound will keep going afterward, just that the screen is frozen.
