ok my headphones were plugged into the front of the computer and the lil metal nib thing that u inster into the computer has broke in half, 1 half inside the comp..

Ive been able to get the sound working by being stupid and trying the move the metal thing but anyways my sound has stopped working!

Is there anyway u can disable headphones or anything or how would i get this metal thing out of the computer

Hmm.. if the headphone jack actually disables the speakers when headphones are connected, then I doubt there is a way to disable this in software. It's likely hardwired on the connector inside the computer.

More than likely, you're going to have to pull the PC apart and either solder a new mini-phono jack on the piece that broke.. or get fancy with electrical tape to un-short the broken connector and live without the use of headphones.

See if you can access that jack internally and push out the broken off part with the end of a paperclip, with of course the power to the system UNPLUGGED! 8)

LOL! Just noticed this was a very old thread, hope it was fixed! 8)
