Rear speakers not working HELP!!!

Hi i Have a sound blaster live card. and altec lansing ADA745 4.1 speaker system. I recently reformatted my pc updated my drivers including sb live ,and since then I have not been able to configure my system to play sound in my rear speakers.

I have set the speaker configuration in control panel to quad speaker (there is no 4.1 option) and in the creative audio HQ setup i have ticked the synchronize with control panel option, but it still will not give me an option other than 2/2.1 speaker set up. i have also noticed when i change the speaker setup in windows control panel it reverts back to desktop speakers when rebooted.

As i use my system to watch dvd's this is a real pain for me. If anyone can help me out i would be very greatful.

This is pretty common for some reason.

Make sure your speakers are plugged into the right ports then go into the Creative control panel and enabled cmss

Stereo sound like music will by default only play in 2 channels. You will have to use your soundcard to drive all 4 channels.
