Recharging a battery

Hi,
I recently purchased a used Toshiba T4800CT laptop. I've been looking for an owners manual, but I think my question can be easily answered by anyone who has a laptop. How is the battery charged? I am using a AC adaptor for power at this time. I tried to find a # or email address to contact Toshiba but due to my somewhat embarrasing lack of PC knowledge, have been unable to locate what I am looking for. Anyone offering some help is greatly appreciated! Sherrie

Most, if not all, laptops charge simply by connecting the AC adapter. When the adapter is connected, it will then power the laptop from the AC adapter, while charging the battery, if the machine is off, it will still charge the battery. Also, the charging board in the system(sometimes part of the mobo) will shut off when the battery becomes fully charged, so you don't have to worry about it overcharging the battery.
