With my computer, it came with XP home.
I dident get a disc with windows on it, but i did get repair cd, which has XP on to restore windows.

I have a backup of XP on DVD from when the computer just fresh, so just all the documents of users and pre-installed software etc. Backup as soon as it was turned on basically.

Can i use either to recover XP? And does it follow the same way as you would do installing XP?

.p.s any guides aswell on reformating, i found two, but were missing one thing from eachother.

It depends on how the manufacturer made the disk. Some use Norton Ghost to reformat then install Windows to it's freshly installed state. Boot off of them to see, it won't hurt anything unless you press enter to reformat or reinstall Windows.
