Registry keys associated with file extentions deleted!

  1. All the registry keys associated with file extentions has been deleted from my windows vista registry.
    Is this a virus or just microsoft striking again?

    It could be malware, but then again, it could also be caused by a corrupted registry. In either case, I recommend you reformat and reinstall.

    Thats what I am doing, only thing takes several hours to reinstall vista:(
    But either way, changing registry permissions shouldn't cause this.
