When the bestec blew in my moms t1840, it took the imperia mobo with it... now it's being used as a wall decoration w/ blown capacitors!

Ouch. You know, it's quite entertaining to put old components like that over a fire. If they haven't blown completely yet, they shoot off like fireworks. Or, you could just pull an Office Space.

I'm sure they would! As a matter of fact, there are still a few swelled caps on that board. That board was junk anyway (Not stripped down), where the AGP would normally be on a board like my asus P4B533-VM, the 20 pin ATX connector takes that area.

FIXED DISK.................. SAMSUNG SP0411N(ULTRA MODE .....(SOMETHING...)

CMOS/GPNV CHECKSUM BAD
CMOS DATE/TIME NOT SET..

PLZ SOLVE MY PROBLEM

Well for starters, your clock in the BIOS isn't set to the right time. This is probably due to a clearing and reset of the BIOS or a reflash. Or it may be the 3.3v flat battery on the board is bad.If you right click on my computer, hit properties, the system properties window will open. Go to the advanced tab, then the settings button under system startup and recovery. Under system failure you will see the automatic restart box checked. What's happening is something isn't shutting down properly when you shut down. The system sees that as an error, and does what it's been told to do. Restart. If you uncheck the box it will give you a BSOD which may have more specific info on what is causing the problem. More than likely resetting or reflashing the CMOS will fix that. Remember when you clear the CMOS chip everything in the BIOS has to be reset.checksum error points to an improper setting in the BIOS. Try discommecting the PSU power supply, and the 20 pin connector from the mobo before clearing the CMOS...

lol If you're talkin' about the all caps post, he probably doesn't have a clue what you are talking about.

How did you get the VGA out of the back?
no... on the imperial board, where the AGP would normally be, the 20 pin power takes the place. My asus board has the agp lol. The imperial board has onboard Intel "Extreme" Graphics. Like I said, this junky board has no AGP slot... not stripped down like the Intel D845GVSR. Instead, TriGem stuck the 20 Pin PSU Connector there. I recall when I opened that case to the bestec fired emachine that board came out of, Emachines had to stick a fan guard over the CPU cooler to avoid the PSU cables from getting caught in the fan. That imperial board had a heatsink on the northbridge that was way too small, especially for the fact that the northbridge was also having to control the graphics. My Asus P4B533-VM has a 3x bigger heatsink on the 845G Northbridge. When I used to use on-board graphics, even with the huge heatsink, it still used to overheat in things like google earth. I could only imagine how much the imperial's northbridge used to overheat, with that little heatsink. The Imperial board was a dumb idea in the first place.
