Hello All fine folks and Happy Holidays to all:

How in the world does one remove a CMOS battery? You know, the ones that lay flat in a round circle holder with a hold down gizmo on one end of the round battery holder? I tried to pry the battery out but was afraid of breaking something. Are you supposed to lift up that hold down gizmo,(strap)??--to remove the battery?? I tried to do that on my wifes older computer, but the hold down gizmo broke off...now I'm afraid to tackle another one when I need to.

Any info will be greatly appreciated...

You don't need to break anything to remove the CMOS battery. If you can't bend that springy clip thing out of place and get the battery out, use a screwdriver and gently apply pressure to move it out of the way and then remove it. It should actually just pop out once you get the clip out of the way. But don't stick the screwdriver under the battery and try to pry it out, only problems occur when leverage and alot of stress is used inside a computer ;)
