  1. Restore boot sector

    I was asked: "How can I restore the Boot Sector of an otherwisw OK hard?" That's all the info I have at this point.

    I don't have the OS system yet. Any differance between 98 & Win2k or XP?

    Your question is phrased a little vaguely.

    However, if you are talking about restoring a Windows 2000 or XP bootsector, you can do this in the recovery console by running the fixboot command.

    Alternatively, Windows 98/Me boot sectors can be restored by booting from a Windows 98/Me startup disk and typing in sys C:

    C: will be the name of the drive you wish to rewrite the boot sector on.

    Or maybe a simple fdisk /mbr in dos will do the trick :)
