Returning from standby problems

I am having a problem with my computer and returning form standby. By this I mean my computer will go through the usual cycle to go into standby, but when I press the power button to return my computer boots up, like it had actually shut down.

I am currently using Windows XP Pro x64, and my computer specs are with my profile. This also happens on my x86 version of XP Pro.

This didn't happen before, but I don't know what I could have done to screw it up. If it's a driver I sure don't know which one.

go to the Standby settings, alter it to Hibernate, put it back to Standby, and
then save/apply the result.

I've found that sometimes the setting gets lost and needs to be reset
