Rogue system admin shuts down servers and deletes core files on the day he is fired, now...

"What this dude did, was kill someone because -according to some twisted logic behind, I'll go into it- that someone may or may not have stolen something from him."

This guy lost his job, hacked his work, dented a car, killed someone, went a mass murder rampage to a nuke missile site hacked it and took out 6 major cities? Sorry I missed all those parts from the story. Seems my original statement of we don't know the full the story still stands. This entire story is told from the point of view of the employer/victim company and so the entire thing is one sided. They took his eye (job) he took their eye (computer system) and now they want his other eye.

"Normal people, just so you know, because clearly you don't know what normal people are, live by social rules and law."

Normal people don't tend to judge someone who steals a 1p sweet(candy) equivalent to a terrorist. Most normal people have broken the law even if unknowingly (Copied a CD because I wanted a backup of the original?). This is why we have courts not some guy online that thinks all laws are perfect and the punishment always fits the crime and that all crime is the same. Why not just send anyone who isn't perfect and normal like you to prison?

"Was that a valid reason to do so? No it was ducking not. It's dumb when people try to make something illogical logic by justifying said unjustified behavior."

Sorry you felt the need to result to personal insults to make your point. Dumb is seeing the end result of anything and never asking how it lead up to said end result. Law these days isn't the same as it was century's ago where everyone got hanged or burned at the steak for any crime regardless of reason.

It's important to understand any crime and why it occurred. For understanding crime, preventing crime and issuing a just punishment.

You are weighing the punishment against time not damages. It doesn't matter how much time it took him to do the damages. What matters is the extent of the damages.
No, thinking through your reaction before you do is my point regardless of the time involved. Sometimes, though, a split second reaction can cause a heapload of trouble and damage (like in this case, pulling out a gun, road rage are other examples). Even more so in quick knee-jerk reactions it's important to learn to take a breath and think through what you wish to do.

BINGO! I saved many a system by not over reacting and considering the action -> consequence issues

What a DMF'er in this company's management HR Department. Everyone knows you first get your password revoked and your no longer able to enter into any of the company's computers, including emails and is done well in advance of firing anyone. Your first sign your about to be fired is your lack of being able to log into the computer network and/or get your email. Company got what they deserved.

Alright so punish the guy... but seriously there are dudes raping women without a single day in prison this is just stupid.
Well, it wouldn't be "stupid" if you or your company were the victims, now would it? I'm sure you'd say all is forgiven, give the dude his job back, then invite him over for Sunday dinner.

And there are just as many African Americans in jail for drug sales, who many people believe should be let out because they have committed, "victim-less crimes". Which speaks nothing of these poor "victims" willingness to let others rob, steal, burn through their and their families life savings, to buy "nose candy" and whatnot from them

The US has some serious mental health problems in play. If you read the news, you'd swear that there isn't a woman who in the past 50 years has had consensual sex.. Every one is a victim. Then they wind up having the person they accused's job.

The flip side of which is the fact there doesn't seen to be such a thing as an ex boyfriend. They never really go away, they just become stalkers.

And now y'all think this clown doing a dime for screwing up a company's books for months deserves a slap on the wrist.

How about if we let Bernie Madoff out? After all, he didn't rape, beat up, or mug any body.

The irony of this story is, this guy probably isn't competent enough as a hacker, to be recruited by the FBI and have his sentence commuted. So, the moral of the story is, "don't do the crime if you're not slick enough to weasel your way out of the time".
