has anyone managed to run deus ex in win 2k successfully? my game freezes after about 5-15 minutes of being in game has anyone else had these problems, and if so how have you fixed the? any help appreciated please email me on edd_davies@hotmail.com cheers ed
I hate to tell you that people probably won't email you the answer. If you would like to get your problem solved you will have to come back to the boards and check it out. A question to help solve it now...Is this a legit copy of the game? it might be an issue with directX.
works fine for me - make sure u have the latest direct x/grafix card drives/motherboard drivers and game version - then it should run no problem Steg
I never managed to get Deus Ex run properly in XP.. You can try switching between DirectX and OpenGL and other tweaking options nicely discussed in TS Deus Ex tweaking guide.
That is pretty strange because myself I've never had any problems running DeusEX on W2K. I've bought the "Premier Collection" which is allready patched at version 1112f straight from the box. If you're only into the single player campaign, try this patch -> http://ftp.eidos.com/pub/patches/deusex/Deusex_patch1014f.exe or this one -> http://ftp.eidos.com/pub/patches/deusex/DeusExMPPatch1112fm.exe if you like to smack your friends around with the crowbar.
Being (in my humble opinion) the greatest game of all time, this is always a regular on my computer, I'm currently using W2000K and have never had any problem running this title, I have never felt the need for any patches having played and completed it several times, just make sure that you have the latest video and audio drivers. Having bought three gfx cards since I bought deus ex some time back, I've found that this game can be a little 'persnickety' with some cards, if possible let us know your pc specs - it may shed light on your problem.
amd 2100xp mhz nvidia geforce 2 64 meg 512 meg ram also i have since tried it again several times and now if i wait a while the game crashes and gives the following error (see pick) i will try some killing my virus and a few other things and see how they go, the game is legit and i got the sold out budget version which is fully patched up to date, i will check for new drivers too but i think im pretty up to date cheers ed
ReadFile failed.. Have you tried reinstalline the game? Perhaps you are missing some files or maybe the game can't read sound tracks from the CD? Have you tried playing with no sound/music? (I know you can't play without sound, but you could try it just to see what to blame)
i have now sorted it by running it in 3dfx mode, for some reason this works and runs really smooth, also it looks identical to d3d it just doesnt crash cheers for all of your help ed
