Safe Mode help

    I have this problem that prevents me from accessing safe mode. When I get onto the log on screen in Safe mode, it freezes for about 3 seconds and then restarts my computer. I scanned for viruses with Norton 2005 and with the free online virus scanner (Trend micro).I don't know how to fix this problem. Please help. Thanks.(Windows Xp Pro)
