Samsung’s next Unpacked event is a little less than two weeks away. At the current pace, however, Samsung won’t have much to surprise us with as renowned tech leaker Evan Blass has published what he claims are official press renders of both the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5.
Also accompanying the latter device is a set of hardware specifications.
These images are the best we’ve seen yet of the unreleased devices but they’re far from the first. As you can see, they leave little to the imagination. If they were from anyone else, I’d be willing to believe Samsung leaked them directly although given Blass’ track record, that’s probably not the case.
According to the leak king, the Galaxy Note 5 will feature a 5.66-inch display operating at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 that’s powered by Samsung’s own eight-core Exynos 7420 SoC (four 2.1GHz cores and four 1.5GHz cores) and 4GB of RAM.
There’s also said to be a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel shooter up front and 32GB of internal storage (no SD card slot). It’ll arrive running Android 5.1.1, we’re told.
Late last month, Samsung revealed it would be hosting an Unpacked event on August 13. That’s a little less than a month ahead of schedule as Samsung typically kicks off the IFA trade show in Berlin with a media event to unveil the latest Note revision.
Why is Samsung moving the reveal date ahead by a few weeks? According to reports, the Korean tech giant wants to beat Apple’s next iPhone to market. Debuting in the middle of August would certainly put Samsung on track to do just that… assuming of course that Apple doesn’t move up the date of its next product cycle to counter the move.
