  1. Samsung on Wednesday officially unveiled its gargantuan Galaxy View tablet. With a notebook-topping display measuring 18.4 inches diagonally, it should be little surprise that the Galaxy View is all about media consumption.

Billed as the largest Android mobile device on the market, the Galaxy View features the aforementioned 18.4-inch display operating at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 that’s powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7580 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.6GHz alongside 2GB of RAM.

There’s also a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, support for 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a pair of rear-firing four-watt stereo speakers and a 5,700mAh battery that can provide up to eight hours of continuous video playback.

The slate will be offered with either 32GB or 64GB of local storage that’s expandable via microSD card slot. The carrying handle on the rear doubles as a two-way (non-removable) stand. Samsung will ship the Galaxy View with Android 5.1 Lollipop; there aren’t yet any plans to push out an update to Marshmallow.

All things considered, what we have here is a portable television that weighs in at nearly six pounds (5.84 pounds, to be exact).

Samsung hasn’t revealed how much the Galaxy View will retail for or exactly when it’ll go on sale. A cached listing on Adorama claims it’ll start at $599 which, if true, is likely way more than most would be willing to pay for what’s essentially a mid-range tablet with a larger low-resolution screen.

They're cramming 1.7 times as much pixels in a "tiny" 5.7 inches screen and yet for that huge thing they only go full hd?

Honestly if this costs a reasonable price alot of people would like it. Its not exactly a pro tablet. But it is fantastic for media consumption .

Gotta love the adjectives in this one... 'massive' and 'gargantuan' .... you'd think we were talking about Jupiter.

Remember when the Galaxy Note came out and everyone laughed and laughed... 'look how big it is, it'll look like you're talking with a tablet against your head.' - 'Your arm will get sore just holding it!' hahaha,

Then they hit the shelves and they sold out like turkeys on thanksgiving. So poke fun all you like, but last time they did this they found a market that no one recognized yet and now even Apple makes a 'massive' phone.

Will people buy a device that can sit on the kitchen counter and show recipes and then go on the bedroom dresser for some Netflix in bed? Yeah, they probably will.

It's so big I don't know why they even bothered with the tiny microSD card slot. There should ample space for two, 4TB HDD's configured in RAID 0.
