  1. Samsung first teased its upcoming round smartwatch, the Gear S2, a couple of weeks ago. Now, the South Korean tech giant has officially taken the wraps off both the regular and classic editions of the wearable.

The Gear S2 was designed for those who are on-the-go and have an admiration for minimal and modern design. Conversely, the Gear S2 Classic targets those who prefer a more timeless watch design as it offers a black finish with matching leather band.

In terms of hardware, the two watches are virtually identical. Both feature a 1.2-inch circular display sporting a resolution of 360 x 360 (302 ppi) that’s powered by a dual-core chip clocked at 1GHz alongside 512MB of RAM and 4GB of local storage.

Connectivity-wise, the watches support 801.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC. In terms of sensors, you get an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor, an ambient light sensor and a barometer. The internal 250mAh lithium ion battery should be good for about two to three days of typical usage. A 3G-enabled version of the Gear S3 packs a slightly larger 300mAh battery and can go without a charge for up to two days with average use.

Both models run Samsung’s Tizen OS, thus missing out on the growing Android Wear app library.

Samsung has traditionally unveiled its flagship large-screen smartphone at the annual IFA trade show in Berlin but this year is different. In a bid to beat the next iPhone to market, Samsung moved up the announcement of its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ by a few weeks.

Samsung hasn’t yet revealed pricing or availability details just yet although I suspect the company will fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle at IFA. All we know for sure is that AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon are all planning to offer the Gear S2 when it becomes available.

What does "those who are on-the-go" mean?

I think that's when you land on the spot between Mediteranean Ave and Boardwalk.
