Whats the differince between sata-150 and sata-300 Interface. which is better?

I am looking at two Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 sata drives. the sata-150 has a 9.5 seek time and cost about $10 more than the sata-300 seek time 8.5 based on speed it seems the sata-300 interface is newer.

don't get caught up with the speed ratings from manufactuers. It is a lot of hype. What's important is SUSTAINED data rate. Rarely will any hard drive run at it's MAX rate.

As Tedster said, the interface speeds hyped by marketing are meaningless. In theory you can push more data through SATA 300 but there are no hard drives in the world that could even get near those data rates.

A drive with shorter seek time is better though. The drive with SATA 300 interface is newer and Hitachi has probably tweaked the mechanics to help the seek times.
