The SATA connector/controller on my motherboard has gone. My computer crashed with c0000218 error (something to do with a corrupted registry) after a power cut hit my computer when powering down. When I came to fix the problem my boot disk claimed the hard drive was corrupted. So I tried a reformat, but it came up with some read error, it new the disk was there but couldn't read it. I tried the Drive in another PC and it could read it fine, no problem. I then tried to boot my computer off a spare SATA Hard drive a friend of mine had lying about. I got exactly the same read error. I tired a empty IDE drive (its small only 40GB) that I had, this time I could install windows etc. This leads me to believe the SATA controlloler on the Motherboard has a problem. I don’t no whether it’s the bit on the Motherboard has gone, or if its the bios or a driver error.

Has anyone got any idea what I can do to try and resolve this problem???
