I have been trying to succesfully install a sound blaster 16 sound card, but i keep getting an error message. the message is:
Incorrect INT setting in system.ini file

I get no sound, and am using windows ME.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lots of info Here and Here

An example below:

To install the drivers manually

Add the line:-

SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 P330 T6
to the start of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

Edit the WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI file.
Clicking 'Start' > 'Run' > 'sysedit', then click 'OK'.

In SYSTEM.INI add the end of the [386Enh] section the line
device=vsbpd.386 (example only)
making sure that the line device=vsbd.386 does *not* appear.

add to the [drivers] section
wave=sbe16snd.drv (example only)
midi=sbe16snd.drv (example only)
aux=sbe16aux.drv (example only)

and add the lines below which will create a new section. [sndblst.drv]
port=220
int=7
midiport=330
dmachannel=1
hdmachannel=5

Save SYSTEM.INI (By closing SYSEDIT).

Shutdown & Restart Windows to enable sound

I have already done all that, most of it was automatic, and i have checked to make sure that it is correct, but i still get the error message. Any other suggestions?

Normally it's just a matter of loading the correct driver setup program
You could try Unknown Devices program, to hopefully get the correct Sound Card Model number.
Even DriverGuide (free membership required) trying a few different alternatives
