Screen Flickers and unable to change resolution

Please help me!!!
I have recently purchased a new Advent Laptop with NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5350 display.
My problem is that every time i click anywhere on the screen the screen flickers. also i am unable to change the resolution. I have updated with the latest display drivers.

Please can anybody help me?

a good place to start would be what operating system?
Check the device manager, do you see any issues or exclamations?

you might have a refresh rate problem. Some drivers might not be compatible with the OS as well. You might have to roll back the driver.
