I purchased a m2n68-am plus motherboard
amd phenom x2 550
zion 2 GB RAM
I have dual boot Xp with ubuntu 9.10-64.I have all the drivers installed properly. But Since the day i assembled , my monitor screen suddenly freezes with diagonal stripes after sometime and sometimes not.It occurs for both the OS.It goes fine after reboot and the same problem occurs.

I am confirmed that my monitor works fine.I suspect chipset/RAM problem.

Can anyone suggest me any solution..

Thanks in advance.

in which OS does the freeze occur, xp or linux or both? if you're using the integrated graphics on the board the chipset could be overheating or you need to update your drivers. you can run memtest to test for a faulty RAM module. memory can also lead to video problems since it's tied in with the chipset as well. you may also want to look for a motherboard BIOS update if there is a newer version.

@EXCellR8 ..The problem occurs in both the OS.
The graphics card is onboard (Nvidia Geforce 6025).I will try updating the drivers.
Also i will run a memory test.
Thanks..

I did a memory test and didnot find any error there. So it is not a memory problem.

When i toggle the numlock key the lights doenot go on or off.So this is a problem of cpu shutdown.

How to prevent it in both xp and linux.

Please help me out!!
Thanks.
