second h/d installation with different OS

I hope I am in the right place for this question. I am wanting to install a second h/d (XP PRO) to a PC that has XP HOME on it. Can it be done with the way Microsoft now has to authenticate things? Both OS's are legal ones. I need "user friendly" info.. :haha: and maybe links with pics for the cable connections, etc. I am not a newbie but "this" is a first for me. I have lots of info on my h/d that I want to transfer over such as songs and a few programs.
Any help sure would be appreciated.

are you swapping hard drives or leaving 2nd drive in to use with both OS's?
windows will use only 1 boot ini file if the 2nd choice
on load of xp you will get a prompt for upgrade or new ,and as to where you want the fresh install
to save grief any drive larger than 40gb should be partitioned put OS on about 10gb
your prompt choice is something like
0 disk 0 rdisk 0 partition 1
0 disk 0 rdisk 1 partition 1
don't remember the exact way it reads
and I've done this a couple'a (lots) times
anyway the 2nd line or 3rd line depended if your first drive is partitioned also ,I would check on this
now another note from what I have read and what I have loaded on other Machines in past I put all OS's on same drive ,just in it's om partition.
should be cake walk
put on 2nd ide cable set to master set the cd or dvd to slave
