Server.exe on Server 2003

  1. This process is maxing our file server out and I don't know what to do. I've checked with all specs and there is no where we could be having a bottlenecking issue. I know this a type of sharing service over the network. But in some instances it can also be cloaked as a trojan/virus. Just looking for some insight. Thanks.

server.exe is not a legitimate process in WIn2k3. Congrats, you most likely have malware! Were you silly enough to execute files on the server from the users' folders?

Use a proper process information tool like Process Monitor from sysinternals to see where exactly this server.exe lives.
