  1. Hope someone can solve this mystery. I am in the process of moving data from a local RAID set to an external drive source in order to free up some space. As I am waiting for additional drives to come in I decided to hook up a Maxtor external 500 GB. I am managing the data relocation though Terminal Services and for some reason my session drops and I have to wait several minutes before logging back in. The next time I logged in I had a constant ping going to the server and repeated the process as before and the same thing happend again. My constant ping went from constant replies to request time out. Then came back up minutes later. If I move date from the E: drive of the RAID to local C: I have no problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check your event viewer (Start>control panel>administrative tools>Event Viewer) for any errors in the system and application areas. Post any "DISK" or "System errors" you come across including; EVENT ID, SOURCE, and Description.
