This is all I could find per this site: http://www.issociate.de/board/goto/882219/IIS_starts--or_does_it?.html

RE: IIS starts--or does it?
Woohoo! What a happy little camper am I!

After a lot of aimless searching of Google results, I found a somewhat
similar problem description that someone else wrote that said that maybe the
IIS Admin Service wasn't started. (On my computer, it was started.) However,
the article also mentioned that maybe the IIS Admin Service and World Wide
Web Publishing Service hadn't been started in the correct order. Thinking it
couldn't hurt, I brought up a DOS window and did:

net stop "iis admin service"
(this stopped the World Wide Web Publishing Service and the FTP Publishing
Service as well.)

net start "world wide web publishing service"

When the "net start" completed, I noticed that a log file had been created
in my W3SVC1 directory. Yay! Also, running "net start" with no arguments
shows that the "IIS Admin Service" was started too. Most importantly, I can
get to my web pages using both localhost and (from another machine) a full
URL.

I'm so happy!

No longer beating my head against the wall,

Hi,

thanks for the reply. Have tried it but didn't manage to get it working.

Encountered the following errors:

for iis admin service: the requested pause or stop is not valid for this service.

www publishing: a system error has occurred. System error 126 has occurred. The specified module could not be found.

Thanks.
