Services.exe using 50% of 3GHz CPU

  1. So, my services.exe file is using quite a bit of CPU, I have new, 3GHz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD computer with Windows 2000 professional.

When I got the computer, which is some months ago, everything went smooth, CPU usage was normally like 2% or something, but some time ago it suddenly went up to sky. Everything takes ages now to load and open, especially browsing is slow, even though my internet speed (2MB cable) is as fast as it's supposed to be.

I have done virus check with F-Secure and PC-cilling, found nothing. Double-checked services.exe, nothing. Spybot Search and Destroy finds "DSO exploit" everytime I run check, I always remove it but can't get totally rid of it.

Any ideas of what's causing high CPU usage and how to fix it?

    Thanks in advance
