  1. hi

I am a programmer by profession. I was wondering if I should buy a mobile sempron notebook. I do programming in J2EE which needs an IDE like eclipse , a database instance of mysql and Tomcat server running as well. The acer model that I am looking at comes with 512 MB ram which could be upgraded upto 2 gb.

I am new to the laptop market and would like to know if buying a sempron is a good idea for my need. Also if you think that sempron is not a good idea, then do suggest me what should be good. I am looking at something in the range of 850$. The idea of AMD chip came to my mind as it does gives respite to the pocket. However I wouldnt like to buy a lemon for saving an additional 100-150$. do advice me!

    thanks in advance
    Prashant.
