Sims 2 help

I just got Sims 2, and I'm getting the same "DirectX" message that many others are getting. I've read through the other threads, and it seems people just need to find out their Chip Type and download that type. However, mine just says n/a under chip type. Does anyone know what I can do to find out my chip type?

Thanks a ton! I'm not great with computers, so I hope someone can help me.

What does the message say? This might give us more information

"Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate"
