I've finally updated everything, computer is performing much better now, explorer was very slow previously and is now back to normal.
Thanks for all the help in resolving and advice for maintenace/protection going forward, the instructions were brilliant.

Way to go!!

Hi Rossy,

I have just been reading your issue, as I have the exact same problem - win vista, got the sirefef virus, MSE stopped working so I reinstalled it, and now my pc reboots every 60 seconds.

I see you managed to get yours cleaned, but I can't see anywhere how you got it to stay logged in long enough to run or download anything as I have no way of stopping it rebooting every 60 seconds and have no time to do anything.

Did I miss how you got around that problem?

Many thanks

PJ

Hi PJ,

I ended up shutting down my computer and leaving it overnight as it was impossible to do anything with it. I think I had to force it to shutdown by switching it off. As MSE had detected the sirefef virus upon reinstalling MSE, I then used my phone internet to research it and log the problem here.

When I woke up in the morning and rebooted the "auto shut down" issue was no longer occuring which allowed me to follow through the instructions which had been provided by Broni by then. Otherwise I dont think I could have completed the instructions. I probably let my computer rest for about 6-7 hours overall. I hope the same thing happens with yours.

Good luck in getting it cleared up.

thanks for that rosy, unfortunately I am not so lucky as mine has been like that for 24hours and I'm still getting the reboot problem even after leaving overnight.(

does anyone else here know how to stop the rebooting before I start trying to run the logs?

thanks!
