As we were reporting recently, Toshiba have been boosting laptop HDD capacity (in a much needed move) and now it looks like the company has produced the smallest fuel cell yet..

"Fuel cells being developed for use in notebook computers will be able to power a machine for up to 10 hours on around 100 cubic centimeters of methanol, using a small pump to aid in the mixing of the methanol and water, and a fan to help dissipate heat."

This is just the sort of development we need to make notebooks - and in all sorts of electronic devices - smaller and more compact.

    More here.
  2. Does it come with ...

I hope along with the pump and fan it comes with a fire extinguisher given that methanol, especially in vapour form is highly inflammable.

And now to recharge your lappie you need a tank of methanol?
/probably should just read the article, but I'm on dialup

I wonder what the plan is for getting rid of the water by-product?
