So how is Windows 2000?

Just curious to know how good was 2000. As for the gaming area, i heard windows2000 is not made for gaming, however many people still support the OS,base on games when that game gets release, it says windowsxp/2000 support.

Just wondering thats all.

Windows 2000 was allegedly written as a platform for business applications, and as it was better than any other windows offering at the time it got included in the general pattern of things. I would not use it now - XP instead.

It is a fine OS that has really matured through the releases of Service Packs. A fresh install of Windows 2000 without any service packs isn't a good gaming platform, but with SP4 its fine.

If you want to be 'that guy' install it and patch it up to SP4 and then you can point and laugh at all the XP and Vista users because you can do everything they can do but without the Big Brother feeling.

But no more patches so if it has a vulberability MS won't fix it any more. Still, if you do, it should be good for a while anyway!

Smart computing/common sense should keep you free from exploits. Operate behind a firewall, don't use IE or Outlook/OE and you've eliminated just about every threat.
