  1. Hi, I have a friend lives next door and we have a wireless network running.
What we would like to be able to do is talk via headset over lan.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good bit of software to facilitate this????

and i'm guessing a freeware as well?

there's lan messenger but i don't know if it supports voice chatting

Otherwise there's google and looking at open source sites :)

Almost any 'voice over lan' product could be described as VOIP. It is as it implies... Voice over IP and your network probably does indeed use TCP/IP.

Ventrilo requires one computer be the host and an IP based network - that's it.

I use TeamTalk. Works great for gaming and just about anything else we need.
