Hey Broni, I left the scan over the weekend, the number of files scanned has increased (589958), and its found 5 infected files (one being a variant of Win32/Packed.VMProtect.AAD Trojan. But its still at 62%, Should I continue with the scan, or would it be best just to do a fresh install of Windows 7?

Also could you tell me alittle about this trojan? Thanks

Fresh install doesn't make any sense since your computer should be pretty much clean by now.
I can't comment on Eset findings without seeing some log. I need to see file names and locations.
Has Eset been stuck at 62% or the progress is very slow?

Stop that.

Please run F-Secure Online Scanner

  • Disable your Antivirus program.
  • Click on Run now button.
NOTE. If you're using non-IE browser you'll be asked to download small file (F-SecureOnlineScanner.exe). After downloading double click on the file to run the scan.
  • Click on Start button.
  • Click on "Accept" button.
  • When scan is done, in Step 3: Clean the files, leave all settings as they're.
  • Click Next button.
  • Click Full report... button.
  • Copy report's content and paste it into your next reply.

Hey I left the scan on overnight, it didn't find any infected files so no log was created,

Just an update on the status tho,

the Solidworks dll error has stopped appearing on startup, however I cannot open or uninstall Solidworks (the installation manager gets stuck)

I had installed Win 7 on the C drive and because I didn't have enough space on the C drive, I installed Solidworks on the E drive

I am still having trouble accessing files/folders on the E drive, ( Windows Explorer doesn't respond).

Is there anyway to remove a program besides the control panel\uninstall program method?

Revo Uninstaller is more thorough in deleting programs on your computer than using the Add/Remove option in Windows. Since it is a more powerful tool, please be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

Please note there is a chance when you look for this program to uninstall through Revo it might not be listed because of the previous uninstall. If that is the case simply stop and let me know.
  • Please download and install Revo Uninstaller Free
  • Double click Revo Uninstaller to run it.
  • From the list of programs double click on the program you want to remove
  • When prompted if you want to uninstall click Yes.
  • Be sure the Moderate option is selected then click Next.
  • The program will run, If prompted again click Yes
  • When the built-in uninstaller is finished click on Next
  • Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
  • Check the items in bold only on the list then click Delete. You may have to expand some folders by clicking the "+" mark.
  • When prompted click on Yes and then on Next.
  • Put a check on any folders that are found and select Delete
  • When prompted select Yes then Next
  • Once done click Finish.

Revo starts the Solidworks install manager as part of the uninstall, the manager doesn't respond so it doesn't uninstall. Is there any way around the install manager?

Things have gone from bad to worse, now when I boot my PC, it doesn't get past the BIOS Memory Testing, I can't even hit Esc or Del to enter the setup or boot menu!
I tried boot with either RAM stick removed, still doesn't work. Please help.

NOTE 1. Use another working computer to download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool. Use USB flash drive to transfer it from good computer to the bad one.
NOTE 2. Install Panda USB Vaccine, or BitDefender’s USB Immunizer on GOOD computer to protect it from any infected USB device.

For x32 (x86) bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool 32-Bit and save it to a flash drive.
For x64 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool 64-Bit and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.

If you are using Windows 8 consult How to use the Windows 8 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt to enter System Recovery Command prompt.

  • In the command window type e:\frst (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
    Note:
Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
  • The tool will start to run.
  • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.

Alright I fixed it. The PC is booting properly and Windows 7 is running. However Drive E is not recognised by my computer, doesn't even show up in the BIOS, is there anyway to fix that?

That would be a subject to a different forum.

Here I still would like to see F-Secure log.
