Some apps fail to start or function

I recently had to reinstall an application which was working fine for years. The app is Photo Explosion Deluxe and it is something I have had for years. After several reinstalls it still fails to start. Shortly beofre this I had been using Defraggler and although Defraggler would start it no longer would analyze my C drive. It would however analyze my separate internal drive fine. I tried using my system restore points but it always tells me that no changes can be made and to select another restore point however after trying all restore points it still wont change a thing. Is it possible that SP3 could interfere with some apps functioning? Is there any sort of utility which could analyze the app which won’t start and at least tell me why?

Just what happens/do you mean when you say "it won't start"

You should also look in the Windows Event Logs (System Log and Application Log) to see if any warning or error events have been left there
