Sony Vaio Memory upgrade for Laptop - PCG-GRT795MP - how to do?

How do I upgrade my Sony Vaio memory? I have made numerous searches online and found that the PCG-GRT795MP has 2 slots underneath. Do I just pop in an extra memory board (if there's space) or will I lose files while adding another 512MB on top of the existing 256MB.

Should everything run smoothly? I have selected suitable memory for this model and is currently awaiting delivery.

I know it will cost more but you should buy sony memory for your viao....i think putting non sony memory affects your warranty you might wanna check this. other wise just pop the battery and the power lead out and open the slot and pop it in...be careful when putting it in it might require a little bit of force to much can snap the little plastic clips that hold it in place...then boot it up and check that windows has adjusted the page file and you should be fine...check with sony about your warranty before doing anything
