Sound always skips

hi,
my pc is assembled with motherboard intel 945gnt with on board audio from sigmatel,processor is intel d 820,1gb of ddr2 ram.my problem is whenever i play any sound file or dvd file the sound skips or misses and i am unable to find an answer to this fault.please help

have you tried updating to the latest drivers for your card?

i am using the latest sigmatel driver but the sound still skips and misses

do you have onboard video as well?

i have on board video also.does this have anything to do with my problem about skipping and missing sound
