Sound Card Comparison Question

I am currently looking into buying a new Notebook PC. In my line of work I need a computer that produces quality sound through my monitors.

My current desktop has a SoundBlaster 128PCI
The Notebook I’m interested in has a PC2001 Compliant AC '97

And that is the best description I can get of the card. I can’t find anything informative online, so I was wondering if anyone here could give me an idea if these two cards are equal or a web link to compare them.

Postscript: I am not very computer savvy. I can operate one, but do not understand much on a technical level. Please keep that in mind while responding. Thanks :grinthumb

Just curious when you mean "quality sound through my monitors" are you expecting the monitor speakers to produce quality sound?

No. In this instance "Monitors" are separate speakers.

I really doubt the notbook onboard will satistfy your needs to produce high quality audio. If you reallly need a laptop to work with...i suggest you buy it with a dedicated USB external sound card probaly an SB Extigy or the Philips Aurillium. For more information please click on the links below.
