Sound doesn't work but computer says no problem

hi my computers sound doesnt work i have no idea what the problem is sometimes it works if i disable then enable my soundmax device this problem has been going on for some time if you have any ideas i would be foreva grateful.
i am pretty sure its a built in sound card

What are your computers specs? Things like make and model number...You may be infected with a virus or other malware
